Fujairah is one of the seven emirates in the UAE, and it has so much to offer for the perfect weekend away, whether you’re after pure relaxation or you want a bit of adventure too! Fujairah has the best blend of culture, history, luxury, mountains, and coastline to impress you – so much so that you’ll probably want to book another trip to come back again.
When to visit Fujairah
The weather in Fujairah is largely the same as in Dubai, so we recommend you visit between September and April for the cooler months. However, Fujairah has some beautiful beaches and all-inclusive resorts, so if you do decide to go in the hotter summer months, there will be plenty of opportunities to cool off by having a dip in the pool or the sea.
If you’re making the trip from Dubai or Abu Dhabi, it’s totally worth it to stay for at least a weekend, although if you can, we’d suggest taking a long weekend of 3 or 4 days if possible so that you can truly enjoy the entire Emirate!
How to get to Fujairah
If you’re travelling from Dubai, the easiest way to reach Fujairah is by car – car rental rates in Dubai are quite reasonable, and it will take you about 1.5-2 hours to complete the scenic drive (with no stops). We strongly recommend renting a car if possible, as this will give you more freedom and flexibility once you get to Fujairah.
If driving isn’t an option for you, there are some public transportation options from Dubai, with bus route E700 offering multiple trips per day to and from Fujairah. Tickets start from 25 AED one way, with the journey taking around 3 hours. You can catch the bus from Union Square Bus Station in Dubai, and it will drop you at Choithrams supermarket in Fujairah city centre. Plan your journey here.

Where to stay
Fujairah has a wide range of luxury resorts where you can enjoy the beautiful coastline and beach. Some great recommendations are north of the city of Fujairah, along the Al Aqah coastal stretch, which also happens to have a beautiful beach for some sunbathing.
InterContinental Fujairah Resort
The 5-star InterContinental Fujairah Resort is a luxury coastal haven with 4 pools and a private beach. This stunning hotel blends together Arabic architecture with modern luxury, with views over the Indian Ocean or the beautiful Hajar Mountains – you’ll be spoilt for choice no matter which room you get.
Address Beach Resort Fujairah
Another luxury option along the Al Aqah coastline is the Address Beach Resort Fujairah, which also has access to its own private beach. You’ll be able to recharge your batteries on the sandy beach, but the hotel also offers water activities, hikes and mountain adventures if you need to keep your adrenaline levels up.
Dibba Mountain Park Resort
If you’re after something a little different, we highly recommend checking out Dibba Mountain Park Resort, nestled in the middle of the mountains. This resort is truly unique, with stunning chalets in the most amazing, peaceful environment.

Activities in Fujairah
The emirate of Fujairah is jam-packed with activities of all types, whether you’re the adventurous type or the laid-back traveller. Check out our suggestions to keep you busy while you’re not relaxing on the beautiful sandy beaches.
Cultural exploration in Fujairah
Fujairah has plenty of traditional and cultural experiences for you to enjoy. We recommend checking out Fujairah Fort, one of the oldest and largest forts in the UAE. It was constructed in the 16th century and stands on a hill about 20 metres above sea level, offering spectacular views over the city of Fujairah and out over the ocean.
A short 2km away is the Fujairah Museum, which exhibits local archaeological finds and displays about the traditional way of life in Fujairah, including information about local trade, agriculture, fishing, weapons, and costumes.
A must-see is also the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Fujairah – this is not the same as the one in Abu Dhabi, although it’s just as beautiful. It is the second largest in the UAE, occupying the same area as three football pitches, and is able to accommodate 28,000 worshippers. Spend some time here taking in the spectacular architecture, and if you can, go close to sunset for the most amazing orange-hued views, as well as the evening call to prayer. This will truly give you goosebumps.
Adventure in Fujairah
Fujairah is truly a diver’s dream and a swimmer’s sanctuary, offering some of the best spots in the UAE to explore the vibrant marine world. There is no entry barrier at all: whether you’re a beginner or experienced diver, you’ll be able to dive straight into the waters of the Gulf of Oman. If diving is not your vibe, consider snorkeling or paddleboarding for a smaller adrenaline rush.
A top highlight is Snoopy Island, named for its resemblance to the famous cartoon dog. Colourful coral reefs surround this rocky gem, where you can swim alongside parrotfish, spot blacktip reef sharks, and enjoy crystal-clear waters. Don’t panic, though; these sharks are harmless and will only add to the thrill of your underwater adventure.
Another must-see spot is Dibba Rock, a haven for coral enthusiasts. This popular dive site is home to graceful sea turtles, playful schools of fish, and, if you’re lucky, even barracudas. Night dives here are a once-in-a-lifetime experience, revealing a magical underwater world that comes alive after dark.

Fujairah is more than just a good diving spot; it’s a gateway to nature’s underwater wonders. With its vibrant marine life and calm waters, it’s the perfect spot for an adventurous dive or a peaceful swim in the beautiful blue waters.
Relaxation in Fujairah
After a day or two of exploration and adventure, you’ll surely be ready to have a day of relaxation. Spend the day relaxing at your hotel or on one of the many beautiful beaches Fujairah has to offer – our favourites are Al Aqah Beach, Umbrella Beach and Sandy Beach. We love Umbrella Beach as it offers lots of entertainment – restaurants, coffee shops (our favourite has to be Rumailah Farm), food trucks, and even arcade games! You could easily spend a whole day here chilling by the beach, with plenty of options for evening entertainment after a day in the sun.

Also, before you leave Fujairah, be sure to check out the Friday Market (Souk Al Juma), which, contrary to its name, is open every day of the week. At this roadside market, you’ll be able to find local produce, such as fruit and vegetables, as well as special pieces of pottery and other souvenirs that you can take home with you as a reminder of your time in Fujairah.
Things to bear in mind
Whilst Dubai is reasonably progressive and “westernised” these days, Fujairah is still a little more conservative and traditional. Just make sure you are respectful of the local laws and culture and you’ll be fine. Remember not to cause any drunken issues in public and to dress respectfully (outside of your hotel or beach areas), and you’ll have no problems!
So, what are you waiting for? This exquisite eastern emirate is just waiting to be explored, and we know that you’ll absolutely love your time there. Time to pack your bags and hit the road!
